Circle Note Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Nothing you say or write leaves your device, except through your own iCloud account, which we cannot read. Circle Note has no server of ours and no accounts — there is nothing to sign in to.

Circle Note is a focus stopwatch published by DWB Studio. You name what you are working on, the clock counts up, and you speak short moments as they happen. This policy is written against the shipping app, not against an intention.

1Your Voice

  • Speech recognition runs on your device using Apple's on-device Speech framework. The app explicitly requires on-device recognition.
  • If your device or language cannot do on-device recognition, Circle Note does not fall back to a server. It tells you, and you can type the moment instead.
  • The microphone is active only while you hold the capture button. There is no background listening and no wake word.

2Audio

  • By default, audio is not saved. It is used to produce text while you hold the button and is then discarded.
  • Settings contains an optional switch, Voice recordings, which is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, the audio for each moment is saved as a file on that device so you can play it back.
  • Recordings stay on the device that made them. They are not synced to your other devices and are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
  • Deleting a moment or a session deletes its recording with it, and deleting the app removes all of them.

3What You Write and Capture

  • Your objectives, sessions, elapsed times and every captured moment are stored in a local database on your device.
  • If you are signed in to iCloud, they also sync between your own Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit private database. That data lives in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it, no copy of it and no way to read it.
  • Turning off iCloud for Circle Note stops the sync and leaves the data on the device.
  • The date your free trial started is stored in the device Keychain so that reinstalling does not silently restart the trial.

4The Written Read

  • A finished session can optionally be turned into a short written paragraph. It runs only when you tap the button yourself.
  • This is generated entirely on your device by Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent anywhere to produce it.
  • It appears only on devices that can run Apple Intelligence, and only for sessions whose moments are in English. On other devices or in other languages the feature is not shown at all.
  • An earlier version of this page said the text was processed by a third-party AI service. That path was removed from the app before release; no session text is sent to any AI provider.

5No Account

Circle Note has no accounts and no sign-in. Your sessions follow your own iCloud and your purchase follows your Apple Account, so there is nothing for you to create and nothing of yours held on our side.

6Purchases

Circle Note is a single one-time purchase after a seven-day free trial. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to check whether your purchase is valid, which involves an anonymous app-generated identifier and the receipt Apple issues. This is used only to unlock the app and to restore it on your other devices.

7Usage and Crash Data

  • Circle Note uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) to understand where the app is failing people.
  • Events are limited on purpose: which screen was opened, that a session started, that a moment was captured, that speech was blocked, that the paywall was shown, and the outcome of a purchase.
  • Every parameter comes from a fixed list defined in the app's source. Your objective titles, the words you speak, your moment text, your name and your e-mail are never sent as analytics data. Error reports carry an error domain and code, not error text.
  • Crash reports contain a stack trace and your device model and OS version.
  • Two properties are recorded: whether you are in trial, purchased or locked, and which theme you use.

8What We Do Not Collect

  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA), no ad networks and no ads of any kind.
  • No location data, contacts, calendar, photo library or camera access. The app never requests these permissions.
  • No behavioural profiles, and no data sold or shared with data brokers.

9Children

Circle Note is rated 4+ and is not directed at children. It collects no information about age.

10Your Rights and Contact

Circle Note has no accounts, so there is nothing of yours on our side to delete. Deleting the app removes every session, moment, recording and setting from the device. Sessions kept in your own iCloud are removed by deleting the app's data from iCloud in your Apple Account settings. For anything else, write to support@dwbstudio.com. If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above.
